CIP 2024 – 10th Iberian Conference on Perception

The CIP Congress is an international meeting focused on perception, bringing together specialists in vision and perceptual processes. The 2024 edition was held from June 26 to 28 at La Cristalera, near Madrid, in the Sierra. Alba Langlade attended the congress to present fNIRS results on visuo-vestibular integration conducted as part of the InVest project.

IMRF 2024 – International Multisensory Research Forum

IMRF is the leading international conference dedicated to multisensory research. In 2024, it took place in Reno, Nevada, from June 17 to 20. Sarah Marchand, Alexandra Séverac Cauquil, and Jean-Baptiste Durand participated in this key event. Sarah gave a talk and presented a poster on the multisensory integration of optic flow stimuli, while Alexandra co-organized a symposium on the topic, showcasing the team’s central contributions to the field.

NIRx fNIRS Workshop 2024

Held in Berlin from April 15 to 17, 2024, the annual NIRx workshop focuses on recent advancements and applications of functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) in neuroscience. The workshop offers lectures, practical sessions, and networking opportunities. Alba Langlade attended this training event to enhance her technical expertise in non-invasive neuroimaging methods, particularly fNIRS systems used for studying sensorimotor integration.

InVest Team Meeting in Toulouse

In April 2024, the InVest team met with its academic partners in Caen for a project meeting. This gathering provided a valuable opportunity to discuss ongoing progress, share expertise, and align future research directions. The exchanges were highly stimulating and played a key role in advancing the project, strengthening collaboration between the two teams involved.

MT180 Regional Final 2024 – “Ma Thèse en 180 secondes”

“Ma Thèse en 180 secondes” is a French-speaking competition that challenges PhD students to present their research in just 3 minutes using simple and engaging language. In March 2024, the regional final took place in Toulouse. Sarah Marchand represented the InVest team with a compelling presentation of her PhD research on self-motion perception, earning a spot among the finalists and contributing to the public outreach of our scientific work.

MNS 2023 – Mediterranean Neuroscience Society

The Mediterranean Neuroscience Society meeting is a biennial conference that fosters collaboration between neuroscientists from countries around the Mediterranean basin. The 2023 edition was held in Carthage, Tunisia, from October 14 to 18. Alexandra Séverac Cauquil and Alba Langlade represented the InVest team and presented a poster on visuo-vestibular integration during scientific sessions dedicated to multisensory integration and motor control.

Movie-debate

As part of the week-long campaign to raise awareness of vestibular disorders, the InVest team, based at the Centre de Recherche Cerveau et Cognition (CerCo) on the Purpan hospital site in Toulouse, is organizing an evening film-debate based on Alfred Hitchcock’s film “Vertigo” (1958).
Following the screening of the film (in VOSTFR), Pauline Nieto, Senior Registrar in the ENT Department of the Toulouse-Purpan University Hospital, Alexandra Weckel, Toulouse ENT specialist in vertigo and hearing disorders, Alexandra Séverac Cauquil, Senior Lecturer in Neuroscience at UT3, Principal Investigator of the ANR-funded In-Vest research project “Vestibule and cerebral construction of self-motion perception”, and Sarah Marchand, doctoral student in the In-Vest project, will be speaking on the subject.

This year’s Balance and Vertigo Week runs from September 17 to 23, 2023.
Its aim is to bring together the various professional components of the scientific community to explain to the general public what vertigo is and how to deal with it.

Balance and Vertigo Week

Balance and vertigo week
From September 17 to 23, 2023 throughout France

The idea is to create a major annual event in France to raise awareness of vestibular disorders. The aim is to raise awareness of these pathologies, which are still poorly defined and poorly understood, and to publicize the therapeutic approaches available to treat them. It’s also an opportunity to talk about the research being undertaken to advance our knowledge in this field.

This year, the InVest team is taking part in Balance and Vertigo Week, organizing several events during the week and disseminating information to the general public.

VertInnovation Summer School

The VertInnovation summer school, organised by the GDR Vertige, is an intensive week-long course focusing on research into otoneurology and vestibular disorders. It offers theoretical courses given by international experts and practical workshops in small groups, and takes place every year in July on the St Charles campus of the University of Aix-Marseille. Sixteen participants are selected on the basis of an application and receive a certificate of attendance at the end of the summer school. This year, two members of the Activest team will be present at the VertInnovation summer school.

NeuroFrance 2023

The NeuroFrance conference is a major event in the field of neuroscience in France, bringing together researchers, clinicians and students interested in advances in research on the brain and nervous system. It is a platform for presenting and discussing the latest discoveries and innovations in the field. In 2023, NeuroFrance was held in Lyon and the InVest team had the opportunity to present a poster on the characteristics that induce strong activation of the V6 region in the context of multisensory perception of self-motion.
